Galleria Marie-Laure Fleisch, uno spazio d'arte contemporanea nel cuore di Roma, nasce con una caratteristica ben precisa e affascinante: dedicarsi alle opere su carta. Supporto straordinario, antichissimo e moderno insieme, la carta è storicamente considerata un mezzo privilegiato, per libertà di espressione, da molti artisti contemporanei. La scelta di Marie-Laure Fleisch si indirizza quindi verso una tecnica considerata la più spontanea e intima. È con questa scelta che la Galleria Marie-Laure Fleisch si inserisce nel ricco panorama culturale della città eterna.
chiudiRebecca Horn, scultrice, pittrice, performer, regista e poetessa, nata a Michelstadt in Germania, è una delle figure più importanti del panorama artistico internazionale. La mostra con la quale inaugura la galleria Marie-Laure Fleisch, dal titolo Peacock-Sunrise, presenta le opere più recenti, nonché inedite dell’artista, presentando diversi gouaches su carta, due dipinti di grandi misure e una scultura site-specific. La scultura meccanica Peacock Sunrise, dalla quale prende il titolo la mostra, è costituita da matite colorate appuntite che riprendono i colori dell’alba, andando a sostituire le piume della coda del pavone. L’opera è stata creata appositamente dall’artista in quanto le matite riportano alla specificità dei lavori della galleria: le opere su carta. Il movimento della scultura simula l’apertura e la chiusura della coda del pavone. Le “macchine” dell’artista mantengono volutamente un’aurea di prodotto artistico per conferire quell’accezione “umana” e poetica che costituisce una componente imprescindibile nei lavori della Horn. Gli oggetti solitamente usati nelle sue sculture, quali uova, specchi, libri, spartiti musicali, violini, piume, farfalle, imbuti, comunemente visti e usati, vengono ricodificati nel mondo della Horn. Le opere esprimono una poesia ed una fragilità ben lungi dalla precisione meccanica delle macchine odierne: al contrario agiscono in maniera irrazionale ricreando azioni umane, come sfiorarsi, grattarsi, tagliare e dipingere, spingendo l’osservatore a rimanerne comunque colpito,a volte irritato, a volte divertito, motivandolo così nelle sue emozioni, fantasie e sensualità. I messaggi delle opere vengono bisbigliati ed accennati ed è questa la determinante nei lavori della Horn: creare opere che vanno al di là della semplice visione di chi le osserva, dilatando i tempi dell’emotività e dell’intelletto dello spettatore. I suoi lavori sono pervasi da una poetica che sembra essere governata dalla casualità, ma che in realtà nasconde un pensiero premeditato, in grado di esprimere e fondere un bagaglio di dicotomie quali la leggerezza e la serietà, lo humour e la riflessione, la sofisticatezza e la semplicità, la delicatezza e la forza, la sensualità e la profondità intellettuale. L’unicità del suo lavoro risiede nella continuità all’interno del suo fare artistico: ogni opera si lega alla successiva, in una continua trasformazione/dipendenza che fa dei suoi lavori un vero e proprio corpus. L’artista prendendo spunto da un archivio straordinariamente vario di rimandi ed ispirazioni, tratte dalla natura, scienza, storia, musica, letteratura, mitologia, magia ed alchimia, indaga l’antico dilemma legato all’esistenza umana ed, in ultima analisi, al processo di trasformazione dell’esistere.
